Mr. Xavier WASSON, the Education Cooperation Attaché of France, and Mr. Fady FADEL, President of the IGENSIA Education Group, visited our faculty.

On Thursday, December 19, 2024, the Department of French Language Teaching at Marmara University’s Atatürk Faculty of Education hosted two significant international visits.

The first visitor was Mr. Xavier WASSON, Education Cooperation Attaché of France, who gave a lecture to French teacher candidates during his visit to the department. He emphasized the importance of international collaboration in language teaching and learning, offering valuable insights into professional training. Mr. WASSON also spoke about the opportunities for students in the department to work as Turkish language assistants abroad, highlighting the professional benefits of such experiences.

Following this, Mr. Fady FADEL from France introduced the IGENSIA Education Group, where he serves as the international president and is responsible for Francophone affairs. IGENSIA Education, a prominent institution in higher education and vocational training in France, signed an Erasmus+ agreement with Marmara University.

During their visit, Mr. WASSON and Mr. FADEL met with Prof. Dr. Seyfi KENAN, Dean of the Atatürk Faculty of Education. After the meeting, they toured the new campus and engaged in discussions with faculty members and students. This visit contributes to the strengthening of academic, educational, and cultural cooperation between our university and France.

This meaningful visit to our department—which embraces bilingual and multilingual education and values intercultural dialogue—reflects the mutual respect for national values and a shared vision for education between the two countries. We extend our sincere thanks to Mr. Xavier WASSON and Mr. Fady FADEL for their innovative contributions to French language education in Türkiye.
