The “Primary School Education Workshop: Today and Tomorrow” ended with the closing session held in the Adile Sultan Kasrı Öğretmenevi ve Akşam Sanat Okulu on 28 April 2022. In the workshop, organized with the cooperation of the Elementary Education Department of our faculty and Teacher Academies by the Istanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education, primary school-related problems in Istanbul and their solutions were discussed. The face-to-face opening session of the workshop was held in the Dr. Ibrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall with the participation of The Rectorate of Marmara University Prof. Dr. Mustafa KURT, The Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Seyfi Kenan, and Istanbul Provincial Director of Education Levent Yazıcı on 25 April 2022. The online opening session of the workshop was held with the participation of the Director of Elementary Education (Ministry of National Education) Tuncay MORKOÇ,The Dean of Atatürk Faculty of Education Prof. Dr. Seyfi Kenan, and Istanbul Provincial Director of Education Levent Yazıcı on 26 April 2022. Between 26 April and 27 April 2022, in almost 10 hour-long online sessions and 17 workshop desks, education in primary schools was discussed under 8 dimensions:

-          Transition from Preschool to Primary School

-          Measurement and Assessment in Primary Education

-          Instructional Technologies and Material Design in Primary Education

-          Educational Management and Administration in Primary Education

-          Guidance in Primary Education

-          Primary Teacher Education

-          Transition from Primary School to Secondary School

-          Curriculum in Primary Education: Including 10 desks for 10 different courses: Turkish Language, Life Science, Social Studies, Sciences, Mathematics, Foreign Language, Religious Culture and Morality, Physical Education and Play, Visual Arts, and Music.

There were 17 workshop desks hosting almost 210 participants including 33 academics from 6 different universities, 11 administrators working at schools in 32 different districts of Istanbul, 100 class teachers, 29 content-area teachers, 16 parents, 15 primary school children, and 2 pre-service teachers. Shareholders will be provided with the final report of the workshop as soon as possible.
